COMPASSIONATELEE
Lee & Associates' 501C-3 charitable organization, CompassionateLEE, was founded in 2019 and is focused on bringing people together to assist our Lee family members and others in our communities in times of crisis. Our goal is to provide the members of our organization with an opportunity, a few times a year, to focus on helping others by extending a hand of support in our local communities during an emergency or wherever we see a chance that someone may need our help. We will also be raising money through Lee Offices fund-raising events. Money raised will go towards offering support when emergencies arise and to other worthy causes outside of our own organization to do our part to make the world a better place.
YEAR-ROUND INITIATIVES
The American Lung Association is the leading organization working to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease, through research, education and advocacy. Feeding America is the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization. Thanks to donations and support from businesses, government organizations and individuals like you, the Feeding America network of food banks, pantries and meal programs serve virtually every community in the United States — 40 million people, including 12 million children and 7 million seniors.
The Trevor Project is the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning youth. Founded more than two decades ago to respond to a public health crisis impacting LGBTQ youth — a crisis whose magnitude is huge, and one that we have worked tirelessly to end. LGBTQ young people are more than four times more likely to attempt suicide than their peers, and suicide remains the second leading cause of death among all young people in the United States. In 2019, our research team published the nation’s first estimate of LGBTQ youth considering suicide in partnership with leading experts from across the country. This ground-breaking research showed that over 1.8 million LGBTQ young people in the United States consider suicide each year.

Our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines face the kind of stress that most Americans will never know. That stress takes its toll on more than just the military members themselves, but also their families. The strain on the family is only increased when a family member is wounded or killed while serving.
Wounded Warriors Family Support is an independent nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide support to the families of those who have been wounded, injured or killed during combat operations. Rated a four-star nonprofit by Charity Navigator, Wounded Warriors Family Support aids veterans and their families in healing the wounds that medicine cannot.
The families of our casualties suffer in many ways — emotionally, psychologically and financially. Our organization supports wounded veterans and their families, even after physical needs are met, to help them heal, recover and reconnect. We work to provide services and resources to combat-wounded veterans and their families that supplement those provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs and other agencies. We also work with military and nonprofit partners to identify and fill gaps in services for wounded veterans and their families.

News & Press Releases
(October 2022) – Lee & Associates, the largest broker-owned commercial real estate services firm in North America, responded to the urgent needs of Hurricane Ian victims by rallying its network to solicit both financial donations and human capital support to assist with clean-up and rebuild operations. The effort was organized through the company’s 501C-3 charitable organization, CompassionateLEE, which regularly provides assistance to important causes of this nature, including providing donations, clothing, and supplies to families and individuals displaced by the war in Ukraine. Kate Jordan, a Partner with Lee & Associates Maryland, functions as the Chairperson for CompassionateLEE.
One particular effort struck close to home. A Lee & Associates Cincinnati employee working remotely in Punta Gorda, Florida lost the roof to her home and more rain was expected. Jerry Messonnier, President and Principal in the Naples/Ft. Meyers office rushed to her aid and installed a temporary tarp to protect her furnishings. This scene was replayed countless times throughout the region as Lee & Associates employees helped with the removal of debris from homes and mapped out plans to make residences safe to inhabit again. The work is continuing through the Florida region.
Immediately after the war in Ukraine broke out earlier this year, CompassionateLEE initiated a program to solicit support employees and relatives of Klik Solutions, an information technology services company which operates dual headquarters in Baltimore, Maryland and Ukraine. Many employees with the company live in Kyiv and have either been displaced or are currently part of the volunteer military due to the ongoing crisis.
“In both situations the response from the Lee & Associates professionals was swift, robust, and impressive,” explained Jordan. “Word spread quickly about the efforts and, almost immediately, offices across the world stepped up to the plate to make generous monetary donations or to lend their support to individuals and their families impacted by both disasters."
“We still read and are reminded about the war on a daily basis but, for some, the hurricane is quickly forgotten for those living outside the Florida area. Many people have felt really helpless watching both situations unfold and CompassionateLEE provides an outlet to help and direct resources precisely to those that need immediate assistance. It is so important to work at a place that has philanthropy embedded deep in the DNA of the corporate culture and I am awed at the outpouring of support from our national network for these and other causes,” continued Jordan.
CompassionateLEE was founded in 2019 following the company’s response to the devastation left by Hurricane Harvey in the Houston area in the Fall of 2017, as a way to provide Lee & Associates employees a conduit to help those in need.
Efforts organized through company’s CompassionateLEE program and initiated from Baltimore-based company with dual headquarters in United States and Ukraine
(March 2022) – Lee & Associates, the largest broker-owned commercial real estate firm in North America, responded to an urgent request from a company with dual headquarters in Baltimore, Maryland and Kyiv, Ukraine by rallying nearly $26,000 in less than three business days to support two groups with ongoing relief efforts. The first $3,000 was raised within an hour of the first request. Organized through the company’s CompassionateLEE program, which regularly supports important causes of this nature, a request for money and supplies was distributed throughout the corporate network of offices and an immediate response was generated. Kate Jordan, a Partner with Lee & Associates Maryland, functions as the Chairperson for CompassionateLEE.
The fundraising effort was first initiated by Lee & Associates’ client, Goodier Properties, the owner of 1000 Key Highway in Baltimore City, on behalf of its tenant Klik Solutions, an information technology services company which has dual headquarters in Maryland and Ukraine. Many employees with the company live in Kyiv and have either been displaced or are currently part of the volunteer military due to the ongoing crisis. Arthur Olshansky, CEO of Klik Solutions requested help in gathering non-perishable food items, shoes and clothing, hygiene products, blankets and bedding, tents, lighting equipment and other supplies.
“The response from the Lee & Associates family was swift, robust and impressive,” explained Kate Jordan of Lee & Associates. “Word spread quickly about the effort and, almost immediately, offices across the country stepped up to the plate to make generous monetary donations to support Klik’s efforts. Our financial contributions, coupled with the overwhelming donations of clothing equipment and supplies, and the physical help of many neighbors, allowed Klik to quickly and efficiently get everything packed up, loaded on an airplane and sent overseas within a week. Many of us have experienced an overwhelming sense of helplessness watching this situation unfold, so we are grateful for the opportunity to help in some way, as well as the generosity of the entire Lee family. It is so important to work at a place that has philanthropy embedded deep in the DNA of the corporate culture, and both Lee and Klik proved that this is a pivotal component part of who we are as people and a collective company. It was stunning to witness the immediacy of this effort. We are all thinking of Arthur, his coworkers and the people of Ukraine during this time of unimaginable terror. In the days since the initial request, we have also been able to allocate additional funds towards the New York City Police Department’s efforts to sent medical supplies to the Ukraine as well,” Jordan added.
(March 2022) – Lee & Associates, the largest broker-owned commercial real estate firm in North America, recently partnered their non-profit and Advisory Group together to raise money for the Warrick Dunn Charities: Sculpt Program. The groups designed and produced a cookbook comprised of recipes from its Lee & Associates professionals in the Fall of 2021. The book sold over 400 copies and was marketed on the basis that all proceeds from the sale would be donated to charity.
The WDC SCULPT program was developed to bridge the gap between low-moderate income families and nutrition & wellness resources necessary to live healthier lifestyles. Driven by its purpose to improve the quality of lives academically, socially, and economically, WDC provides a “hand up” to families and children through our four programs, Homes for the Holidays, Count on Your Future, Hearts for Community Services Scholarships, and SCULPT Sustainable Living Workshops.
Since 1997 thousands of children and families have benefited from WDC’s programming. The Homes for the Holidays (HFTH) program has provided opportunities for economically disadvantaged single parents who have demonstrated a commitment to achieve financial independence and stability. Recognizing the dire need for support following the purchase of a new home, WDC launched three additional programs to provide pathways for HFTH recipients and members of the community in key areas: 1) Financial Literacy 2) College Scholarships, and 3) Health & Wellness - to help families manage household finances and financial well-being in addition to the physical well-being.
