Transforming Atlanta
The area of Atlantic Station is 138 acres and was originally the location of the Atlanta Hoop Company, established in 1901, and then became the Atlantic Steel Mill until its closing in the early 1990’s. Open in 2005, Atlantic Station became the nation’s largest urban Brownfield redevelopment at that time. The size of Atlantic Station encouraged the US Postal Service to award the neighborhood with its own zip code: 30363. The Gulch, 40 acres located in Downtown Atlanta where railroad and parking facilities are below street level, has recently been approved for redevelopment. Here’s a quick comparison of the two developments.
