Lee & Associates of Illinois’ John Sharpe Honored at SIOR Global Spring Conference
Industrial brokerage veteran wins largest dollar volume member-to-member transaction by a member associate
ROSEMONT, Ill.— MAY 3, 2023 — John Sharpe, SIOR, CCIM, principal and owner of Lee & Associates of Illinois, was the recipient of the “Largest Dollar Volume Member-to-Member Transaction by a Member Associate” at the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR) Spring Conference held in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on April 26-29, 2023.
The premier event brings leaders together from around the globe—representing every facet of office and industrial real estate—to share knowledge and hear perspectives on emerging market trends. The awards program honors SIOR designees in several categories, with a special focus on SIOR-to-SIOR business referrals.
Sharpe, a 36-year industrial real estate veteran, was honored for his representation of warehousing, fulfillment and technology solutions company Smart Warehousing in its lease of a 497,952-square foot, cross-dock property at the Sandy Run Industrial Park in Gaston, SC. The newly built speculative building—one of the largest ever constructed in the area—was developed by South Carolina-based Red Rocks Development and is scheduled to open in May 2023.
“It’s been my pleasure to have worked with Smart Warehousing on their expansion efforts across twelve states over ten years, and I am thrilled to be honored for it,” said Sharpe. “Smart Warehousing’s new facility is a showpiece for the latest in automation technology, allowing the company to optimize inventory levels and create efficient supply chains on behalf of its customers.”
Sharpe, along with John DeCouto, CCIM of Lee & Associates’ Atlanta office, represented Smart Warehousing in this lease transaction. Chuck Salley, SIOR; Dave Matthews, SIOR; Thomas Beard, SIOR; and John Peebles of Colliers represented Red Rock Developments.
