Lee & Associates: Buyer sought for new-look, 34,000 sq. ft. school building in Newark
A renovated school property in Newark is on the market for sale, in a newly announced offering by Lee & Associates New Jersey.
Located in the city’s University Heights section, at 66-78 Morris Ave., the four-story property is a former charter school spanning roughly 34,000 square feet. The space contains 18 classrooms, a 5,200-square-foot gym, a 2,744-square-foot cafeteria, office and administrative space and a partial basement.
Jerry Joseph, Tarang Ramani, Beth Chezmar and Jason Lynch of Lee & Associates New Jersey are leading the assignment, noting that bids are due Oct. 31.
“This offering presents a rare opportunity to acquire a superior school building in a prime, academia-centric location,” Joseph said. “Newark is one of the most diverse cities in the nation, and University Heights serves as its educational hub. Recent expansions of the institutions here is proof positive of the neighborhood’s staying power.”
In a news release, the brokerage team noted that University Heights is home to Rutgers University-Newark, New Jersey Institute of Technology, Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and Essex County College. The fully renovated Morris Avenue property spans an entire block from New Street to Hartford Street, providing easy access to interstates 280 and 78, the Garden State Parkway, the New Jersey Turnpike and other thoroughfares.
